Lake McManus
About The Destination
Smith Lake and Whitson Lake
Lake McManus remains a favoured, quiet destination for many trippers. It offers scenic interior campsites and good bass, pickerel and muskellunge fishing. The shores are pebbly but the clear waters are great for swimming.
From here, flatwater paddle routes head northwards to Smith Lake and Whitson Lake. Sometimes it’s possible to line your canoe along the banks to avoid the overland portage from Smith to Whitson, but be sure to scout this out first. Whitson Lake is also spectacular in the fall when its north shore, home to a stand of Silver Maples, displays its natural beauty in a full blown silver glow.
